Deaf Harrington Park Mom Seeks Service Dog HARRINGTON PARK, N.J. --  A deaf mom of two is asking for the public's help in raising funds for a service dog. Harrington Park resident Tara McCann has put her "bark for help," as she calls it, on RedBasket.org. McCann is 98 percent deaf and is a proficient lip-reader. Her former service dog, Ruggles, filled in the gaps, alerting her to danger such as emergency vehicles approaching and allowing her to live independently by alerting her to smoke alarms, the doorbell ringing and much more.  McCann realized her need for a service animal when she nearly collided with a fire truck on…

Norwalk Eatery Helps Create Record-Setting 109 Cheese Pizza NORWALK, Conn. -- Talk about cheesy — in more ways than one. One hundred and nine -- that's right -- 109 -- different kinds of cheeses were used to help DJ Ken Tuccio of 95.9 THE FOX First Thing Fairfield County make history. His dream to create the most cheese on a pizza was made into reality thanks to Letizia's Pizza in Norwalk and 109 Cheese and Wine in Ridgefield. The idea came into being after Tuccio, who works out of Westport, heard of a restaurant in Portland OR that created a pizza with 101 kinds of cheese. And so, after doing some research, he reached out to the Letizia's, which c…

We Need To Grow The Middle Class, Says Daily Voice Co-Founder, In New Book Income inequality and lost opportunities will create a major crisis for the U.S. economy. Such is the message of Peter Georgescu, one of the founders of Daily Voice, whose latest book, "Capitalists Arise!: End Economic Inequality, Grow the Middle Class, Heal the Nation," deals with the erosion of the American dream and the challenges business leaders need to take to get the country back on course. It's a subject he's been thinking about for years but which has particular resonance -- and pertinence --  in today's political climate. And no, he didn't have a crystal ball to predict…

Their band, Diamonds to Dust, which also includes Tyler Ronconi of Wappingers Falls on lead guitar and Singer Virginia Califano of Cold Spring, recently made the switch from post-hardcore music with a pop twist to a full-fledged Christian band, with lyrics centered around faith. The band has been in existence since 2012 but added Califano and Ronconi in Fall 2016, just about when Elli…
