NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Ronald P. Stanton, a commodity trader, died Monday, Sept. 26, at his North Salem home. He was 88.
Stanton, who was also a director at The Patent Trader newspaper, was born in Wiesbaden, Germany.
He came to the United States with his family when he was nine.
In 1965, he founded Transammonia, Inc., now called Trammo, Inc.
Headquartered in New York City, the company engages in the trade, transportation, distribution and marketing of fertilizer, chemicals, crude oil and other things.
A graduate of the City College of New York, Stanton also had a residence in Manhattan.

Democrat, Republican To Square Off For Ramapo Board Seat
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Two candidates are vying for a seat on the Ramapo Town Board left vacant by the resignation of former Councilman Samuel Tress, according to a report by lohud.com.
In the running in the November contest are Michael Rossman, a Democrat, and William Weber Jr., a Republican who will also be running on the Reform party line, lohud.com reported.
Tress, a 71-year-old Democrat, quit his post a few weeks ago after pleading guilty to official misconduct and promising never to seek any future office or position in the town, lohud.com said.
