Apartments, Shops May Rise From Ashes Of Devastating Mount Vernon Fire
MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – The site of a 2015 devastating fire in Mount Vernon may spring back to life as housing, according to a report by lohud.com.
An Ossining developer, 224 Gramatan Avenue LLC, is planning to build an eight-story apartment building on what is now an empty lot that sits catty-corner to La Porte, a new mixed use complex with affordable housing and stores, lohud.com reported.
According to lohud.com, LaPorte’s developer is also putting up a 10-story apartment building nearby.

Montrose VA's Solar Project Will Cut $1.9M In Energy Costs, Cuomo Says
MONTROSE, N.Y. -- A just-installed solar project should save the VA Medical Center in Montrose $1.9 million in energy costs over the next 20 years, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The governor said the 500 kW installation will provide “clean, renewable energy” to the hospital’s campus and save it about $96,000 a year.
Funding for the project came from the state’s Energy Research and Development Authority, which provided $358,000 from the governor’s $1 billion NY-Sun initiative.

Pleasantville Considers Changes To Parking, Building Height Limits
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. -- Pleasantville may allow four-story buildings in certain parts of its downtown business district, according to a report by The Examiner.
The village, which is in the process of updating its master plan, is weighing that and other development-friendly recommendations made by New York City-based consultants, BFJ Planning, The Examiner reported.
