Assault Suspect Surrenders To Ramapo Police
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A man who had spotted himself on a “Fugitive Friday” Facebook post turned himself in Monday, Ramapo police said.
Tazjon Brinkley, 21, was wanted on charges of third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief in connection with a 2015 case in Hillcrest, police said.
Police made four other arrests Monday, two for drug possession, one for criminal mischief and harassment, and one for assault and petty larceny.

Cuomo Signs Bill Boosting State's Fledgling Hemp Industry
The state’s fledgling hemp industry got a big boost Friday when Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a bill allowing the transportation, processing and sale of the plant.
Hemp, a non-narcotic variety of the Cannabis sativa plant, is grown for its tough fibers, which are used to make cordage, yarn and fabric.

Nyack Man Faces Drug, Trespassing Charges
NYACK, N.Y. – A Nyack man had drugs on him when he was arrested, Orangetown police said.
Charles F. Kenney, a 37-year-old village resident, was arrested on Spear Street around 1:43 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, by officers investigating a trespassing complaint.
Police said they found several glassine envelops of heroin and an undisclosed amount of marijuana on Kenney.
He was charged with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor; unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation; and trespassing, also a violation, police said.

Thieves Break Into Car At Ramapo Park, Steal Pocketbook
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Thieves smashed the window of a car at a park in Chestnut Ridge and stole a woman’s pocketbook, Ramapo police said.
The victim was visiting Children’s Park off Grotke Road in the village on Saturday, Aug. 20, when the break-in occurred, police said.
