Teva Pharmaceuticals Shutting Down Pomona Plant, Laying Off Workers
POMONA, N.Y. – Teva Pharmaceuticals, said to be one of the nation’s largest drug producers, is closing its Pomona plant and laying off dozens of employees, the company said this week.
According to Teva communications director Michele Pelkowski, the plant at 223 Quaker Road has been winding down for a while.
About 44 employees were let go between 2014 and 2015, according to bizjournals.com. The current round of job cutbacks involves 80 employees at the site, Pelkowski said.

Social Services Case Worker, 35, Claims Harassment In Suit Against Rockland
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Rockland County worker is suing for millions, claiming she has been harassed for her religious beliefs and bullied by supervisors and colleagues, according to a report by lohud.com.
Marie Brevil, 35, a case worker with the Department of Social Services since 2007, filed a civil rights lawsuit seeking $4.5 million, lohud.com reported.

Stony Point Police Report Series Of Traffic Arrests
STONY POINT, N.Y. -- Stony Point police reported making a number of traffic arrests this month, including one of a 39-year-old local man.
Azuka B. Tuke, of Wayne Avenue, was arrested on Friday, Aug. 26, and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, police said.
Tuke’s license had been revoked after 17 suspensions, police said.
He is to appear in court on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

Yonkers, Artist In Talks Over New Site For Downtown Mural
YONKERS, N.Y. -- The approaching destruction of a landmarked mural in downtown Yonkers is striking a discordant note with its creator, artist Richard Haas.
The artwork, part of a triptych showing historic scenes and titled “Gateway to the Waterfront,” was painted in the late 1990’s.
