'Cop's Cop' John Timoney Dies; Ramapo Police Mourn Former Rockland Resident RAMAPO, N.Y. – Local police officers were mourning the loss this week of former Ramapo resident John Timoney, a Dublin-born police officet famous for his swagger, blunt talk and love of law enforcement. Timoney, 68, died Tuesday in Miami of lung cancer, according to multiple media reports. According to Timoney's biography on Wikipedia, his family moved to New York City in the early 1960s, where he acquired a Bronx accent. Dominican Sister's Love Of Art Shines In Ossining Show OSSINING, N.Y. -- She may not be as prolific as Grandma Moses, but at 91 years old, Sister Mary Ellen Wisner of Ossining is still remarkable for her artistic abilities. The Dominican Sister of Hope is having a solo exhibit of works rendered in oil and watercolor at the Mariandale Retreat and Conference Center. Sister Mary Ellen, who just celebrated 70 years in religious life, taught art for many decades, but it wasn’t until she retired that she was able to focus on her own work. Putnam Judge Denies Resignation Linked To Misconduct Complaints PHILIPSTOWN, N.Y. -- Philipstown Town Court Justice Alan F. Steiner is stepping down amid complaints of political misconduct, the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct announced Thursday. Steiner also serves as acting justice of the Cold Spring Village Court. He will be resigning from that post as well on Tuesday, Sept. 20, the commission said. According to a statement released by his attorney, Deborah A. Jamaican Food Maker Will Bring $37M Facility To Orangetown ORANGETOWN, N.Y. -- Golden Krust Bakery and Grill, a maker of savory meat pastries and other Jamaican goodies, is coming to Orangetown, according to a report by lohud.com. The Bronx-based Caribbean fast-food chain plans to consolidate its operations in a $37 million office, distribution and manufacturing facility on 17 acres off Route 303, lohud.com reported. The family-run business would create about 80 new jobs and have a total of 190 employees, the lohud.com report said.
