Retired Warehouse Manager James Biele, 78, Of Pawling
PAWLING, N.Y. -- James Biele of Pawling died Monday, Dec. 26. He was 78.
Biele, a retired manager for Toy & Sports Warehouse in New Rochelle, was born in Baltimore to Frank and Anne (Martin) Biele.
His wife, Edith (Gavula), died in 2008.
Biele is survived by his son, Kenneth (Ann); four daughters, Brigitta Braatz, Katherine (Terry) Jones, Loretta (Michael) Montemarano, Kelly (Paul) Wood, and Kim Biele; his sister, Carol; many grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were private and handled by Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main St., Pawling.

Ferdanand Tambone, 90, of Pomona
RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Ferdanand Tambone of Pomona died Wednesday, Dec. 28, in Suffern. He was 90.
Tambone was a native of Philadelphia.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 30 at Hellman Memorial Chapels, 15 State St., Spring Valley.
Rabbi Fass officiated.
Burial took place at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Ave., Paramus, N.J.
Arrangements were handled by Hellman Memorial Chapels.
Jacqueline Doris Allen, 80, of Fishkill
FISHKILL, N.Y. – Jacqueline Doris Allen of Fishkill died on Friday, Dec. 30, in Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 80.
She was born in Rochester to the late June Wolfe Allen.
Allen later moved to Syracuse, where she lived until she moved to Dutchess County in 2004.
Allen worked as a vault teller for Marine Midland Bank / H.S.B.C. in Syracuse for 17 years before retiring in 1999.
A member of Fishkill Senior Citizens, she enjoyed playing Bingo and online poker.

Meet Georgia, Pomona Animal Shelter's 'Pet Of The Week'
POMONA, N.Y. – Georgia, a Labrador Retriever mix, is looking for a forever home, according to the folks at the Hi Tor Animal Care Center in Pomona.
The 2-year-old female was surrendered to the shelter along with her brother, Chance, because of an illness in her owner’s family.
Chance has been adopted, the shelter said.
The shelter's "Pet of the Week" is “an active girl” so a fenced-in backyard where she could play and run would be “awesome for her,” it said.
She is affectionate and housebroken, but still needs some obedience training.

Monsey Shopping Center Owner Seeks Business Improvement District
ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Monsey shopping center owner is asking Ramapo to allow the formation of a Business Improvement District, which would, he says, make the hamlet’s commercial center safer, cleaner and more attractive.
Joseph Brachfeld, owner of Town Square Center, said a “well-organized” BID would bring businesses together to make downtown Monsey a first-class experience for residents, drivers and shoppers.”

GREENBURGH, N.Y. – Four local lawmakers have written to Gov. Andrew Cuomo reminding him of his promise to sign legislation authorizing the imposition of municipal occupancy fees in certain Westchester and Orange communities.
