Just In Time For Holidays, Peekskill Library Sells New Children's Book PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Just in time for holiday gift-giving, Peekskill's Field Library is selling new children’s books at non-Grinch-like prices, says librarian Sally Bentley. Titles include longtime favorites as well as newly released fiction and picture books. Hardcovers are $4, while paperbacks are $1 to $2 apiece. Do You Know Him? Lost Beagle Found In Mahopac MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- A very nervous little beagle has been found wandering around West Lake Boulevard in Mahopac, according to the Putnam Humane Society. The male pooch was so elusive that the local animal control person had to use a “Havahart” trap to capture it, said shelter spokesperson Michele Dugan. Other than being “really frightened,” the dog appeared to be in good shape, she added. The brown, black and white animal, who had no collar or license, was rescued Monday afternoon, Dugan said.
