Yonkers Vows To Re-Create Landmarked Mural Downtown YONKERS, N.Y. – The middle chunk of a three-part landmarked mural in Yonkers is no more, according to a report by lohud.com. “Gateway to the Waterfront," a mural painted in the late 1990’s by artist Richard Haas, depicted historic Yonkers scenes. The central “panel” graced the side of 36 Main St., a building owned by Rising Development. The other two parts of the artwork are on adjacent and nearby buildings at 35-37 Main St. and 5 Riverdale Ave. Although the City Council voted to landmark the mural in February, the building itself was condemned because of structural issues and its own…

Meet Leah, Hi Tor Animal Shelter's Pet Of The Week RAMAPO, N.Y. -- Leah, a terrier mixed breed, is up for adoption at the Hi Tor Animal Care Center in Pomona. The 3-year-old pup was given up by her owner, who felt she was too much responsibility, the shelter said. Leah is playful and active, but doesn’t seem to like some dogs, the shelter said.
