The crash happened around 7:40 a.m. on Route 8 near the southbound Exit 11, police said. Because the black SUV landed against a rock wall, its three occupants were trapped inside and had to be freed by emergency crews from Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Co. 1 from Shelton. The folks at the Scarsdale Animal Hospital are guessing that the female dog is about eight years old and is probably a mix of greyhound and beagle. She has a brindle coat.
